All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Bexhill, you must be at least 21 years old, although specific age restrictions may apply based on the vehicle type, with extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement, is required. Additionally, you must present valid identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information, along with a security deposit, is necessary. Ensure you meet any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Bexhill office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, please conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same state as it was received, with allowances made for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same level of fuel as at collection; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please contact us promptly if you foresee a delay. You are responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental period, along with an applicable administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. The specifics of the coverage and any excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial exposure. It is advisable to examine these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any potentially dangerous actions. The transport of hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using the vehicle for unintended purposes, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside specified geographical boundaries without prior consent are all unacceptable.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bexhill is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be capped at the amount paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. All disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Terms Amendments
We can update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continuing to use our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
